Extraction and intraction - Indoor Discount

An essential parameter for indoor cultivation, good ventilation makes all the difference and prevents your garden from turning into a furnace. Extraction allows you to evacuate warm, low-CO2 air and introduce fresh air from outside. It's important, however, to know how to calculate the extraction volume of your grow room to ensure optimum ventilation.

How to calculate extraction volume?

In the case of a growth phase, with low-heat lamps, you can calculate the volume of your space by applying the following formula (per meter):

Length x Width x Height = Volume of space.

For example, for a " Grow-tent room Silver V2 90 x 60 x 180 cm":
0.90 x 0.60 x 1.80 = 0.972m3

Multiplied by 60, this corresponds to the volume of air to be expelled per hour.

So 60 x 0.972 = 58.32m3/h.

But extraction will depend mainly on the space in which your tent is placed, the outside temperature and, above all, the type oflighting you choose.

How to choose your extractor?

As we saw above, extraction/intraction power depends largely on the bulb. Here's a table to help you choose the right extraction and intraction power for your HPS/MH lamp.
This information applies to a single lamp only.

Light Intraction Extraction
MH/HPS 250W 200m3 250m3
MH/HPS 400W 300m3 400m3
MH/HPS 600W 450m3 600m3

Once you've found the power you need. All that's left is to fit out your tent.

  • An extractor to evacuate the air from your tent (preferably towards the ceiling)
  • A ground air intake(intraction) to boost air circulation.
  • Fans to homogenize the air in your tent.
